THE AWESOME SAMSUNG GALAXY A35 5G: WHAT MAKES IT BETTER THAN THE PREVIOUS MODEL
Last year, Mpilo and I had the opportunity to use the Samsung Galaxy A34 for a month. We absolutely loved it—Mpilo even wanted to keep it! This year, we got our hands on the new Samsung Galaxy A35. I loved it so much that I wished I could keep it to continue sharing my experiences on social media. Sadly, I couldn’t, but I’ll tell you all about it anyway.
1. Key Improvements
The A35 features the Exynos 1380 chipset, enhancing the device’s performance and capabilities. It comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and it still supports memory cards, which is quite useful.
2. Aesthetic Appeal
A phone has to be aesthetically pleasing, and this one certainly is. The moment I received it, I fell in love with its colour. It’s also beautifully designed and feels very light.

3. Camera Quality
The camera is my favourite feature of this phone. It’s absolutely the best! With levelled-up nightography, AI portrait, and super steady, crisp videos, the A35’s 50MP camera (up from the A34’s 48MP) delivers more detailed and less blurry pictures. The improved HDR videography ensures your videos are clearer and not dark, capturing every moment perfectly. The steadiness feature, when activated, allows you to take videos during adventures without any bouncing or wobbles. Plus, you can record in 4K while in steadiness mode for clearer, more detailed videos.

4. Performance
We all love a phone with good battery life. The Samsung Galaxy A35 has a long-lasting battery. With this phone, I could attend events without worrying about a dead battery when I needed to Uber back home. The AI battery management detects unused apps and puts them to sleep to save power. If certain apps remain unused, the phone will prompt you to uninstall them, freeing up space and further conserving battery life. The phone’s adventure-ready durability allows you to download and save content without having to delete anything due to ample storage space.
5. Large Display
The A35 boasts one of the best screens on the market, with true-to-life colours. Reds are red, and blues are blue. Also, the screen doesn’t dim under direct sunlight, providing a great viewing experience even outdoors.

6. Samsung Knox Security
Samsung Knox ensures security on the device, protecting you while you use your phone. You need to create a Samsung account to use it fully. With Samsung Wallet, you can upload all your bank and loyalty cards, adding an extra layer of security by requiring a PIN. Samsung Pass stores all your passwords, making them accessible if you forget them. If your device is stolen, the phone can detect unauthorised access attempts and block everything.
7. QuickShare
QuickShare allows you to share photos and videos quickly, even with non-Samsung users. I tried this feature, and while it was a bit tricky at first, I managed to get some pictures through. I didn’t have enough time with the phone to master it completely, though.
Bonus: Water and Dust Resistance
The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is water and dust-resistant, though you’re advised not to submerge it in a pool due to chlorine. It will still work if it gets quickly dipped but may cause some issues.
The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is available nationwide at leading retailers for a recommended retail price of R6999.
